DescriptionOn June 25, 2026, WSJ and TRM Labs revealed CoinEx facilitated $3.84B in Iran-linked transactions since 2019, including $2.7B routed through OFAC-sanctioned exchange Nobitex and direct exposure to IRGC, Hezbollah, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad wallets. OFAC sanctioned four Iranian exchanges on June 2, 2026 (Nobitex, BitPin, Wallex, Ramzinex) but excluded CoinEx. CoinEx has since voluntarily rotated hot wallets and begun restricting Iranian users.
- This event resolves YES if OFAC formally designates CoinEx on the SDN list or issues a public Finding of Violation against CoinEx on or before July 24, 2026 23:59 UTC, as published on ofac.treasury.gov/recent-actions. Resolves NO if no such action is published by the deadline.
- 1. Specificity: Action must be an SDN listing or a publicly posted Finding of Violation naming CoinEx on ofac.treasury.gov.
- 2. Exclusion: CoinEx voluntary compliance measures, Congressional statements, and DOJ-only actions do not count.
- 3. Source Hierarchy: ofac.treasury.gov/recent-actions primary. Reuters/WSJ secondary.
- 4. Timing: Must occur on or before July 24, 2026 23:59 UTC. Post-deadline resolves NO.
- 5. Cancellation Rule: If OFAC action is announced then retracted, resolves YES based on first official publication date.
